GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior guards John Decker and Justin Ringen were each named All-Conference selections by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), announced Tuesday. Decker was named to the Second Team while Ringen garnered Third Team honors.
The conference's scoring leader, Decker was named to the All-SUNYAC Second Team after averaging 22.0 points per game. The senior also led the league in three-pointers made (94), three-pointers made per game (3.6) and free throw percentage (90.6).
Decker scored at least 20 points in 17 of the Knights' 26 games, including a season-high 41 points in a 103-93 win over Morrisville (Nov. 22) and again in a 92-87 victory over Buffalo State (Jan. 24). In the Knights' 89-73 playoff loss to Oneonta, Decker became the 26th player in Geneseo Men's Basketball history to reach 1,000 points, finishing his career with 1,004 points in two years with the team.
Ringen earned All-SUNYAC Third Team honors averaging 17.7 points per game, good for seventh in the conference. The senior ranked third in the league in three-pointers made (71) and three-pointers made per game (2.7), and finished seventh in the conference in free throw percentage (78.0).
Ringen scored 20 or more points in 12 games this season, including a season-high 36 points in a 103-93 win over Morrisville (Nov. 22) and 32 points in a 98-79 loss to Brockport (Feb. 3). In the Knights' 89-73 playoff loss to Oneonta, Ringen became the 25th player in program history to reach 1,000 points, reaching the milestone just minutes before Decker. He finished his career with 1,024 points in two years with the team.
