GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior men's ice hockey defenseman Duggie Lagrone was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), announced Thursday.
The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Lagrone moves on to the national ballot where he will be in the running for Academic All-America status.
The owner of a 3.65 grade point average majoring in economics, Lagrone was voted a First-Team All-American this winter after helping the Knights to a program-record 25-2-2 mark as well as their third State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship in four years.
The First-Team SUNYAC all-star tied for fifth among Division III defensemen with 27 points (seven goals, 20 assists) while tying for seventh with 0.96 points per game. He anchored the nation's top defensive unit that only allowed 1.31 goals per game, including a NCAA Division III record 12 shutouts, as Geneseo made its third Frozen Four appearance in the last six years.
