Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Competes at NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Ten SUNY Geneseo swimming & diving student-athletes are scheduled to compete in the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. beginning on Wednesday, March 20. 

DAY ONE - SUNY Geneseo sophomore Deidra Osula earned All-American status for the first time, finishing seventh in the 50 free with a finishing time of 23.26. Junior Samantha Reichman finished fifth with a score of 465.50 in the three-meter dive, earning her first All-America nod after earning a pair of All-America Honorable Mentions last season. Senior Nancy Naskyfinished 16th in the 500 free, touching up in 5:05.14, to take 16th in the 500 free and earn All-America Honorable Mention, her second career HM (2016, 1650 free). 

DAY TWO - SUNY Geneseo sophomore Deidra Osula continued her outstanding meet, setting the Geneseo and State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) record in the 100 fly with a finishing time of 56.33, good for 22nd place. Sophomores Lauren SiegelNoelle StasoMaddie Knight and Kelly Lennon teamed to form the Geneseo 400 medley relay, placing 23rd with a time of 3:59.08 while Osula joined Knight, Lennon and Staso to finish 21st in the 200 free relay (1:36.14).  

DAY THREE - SUNY Geneseo junior Kiersten Coates joined the Knights' All-American brigade, taking 16th in the one-meter dive to earn All-America Honorable Mention. Reichman added her second career All-America honor, taking eighth in the one-meter dive. Sophomore Alyssa Vadala finished 18th in the event. 

QUICK FACTS

  • Reichman becomes the first Geneseo female diver to finish in the top eight at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships and will compete again on Friday in the one-meter dive.
  • Nasky's qualifying time in the prelims (4:58.58) marks the third fastest 500 free time in Geneseo Women's Swimming & Diving history.
  • Osula's set a Geneseo record in the 50 free finals, clocking in at 23.26 to take seventh.
