GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior Sean McAneny ws named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor Track & Field Men's Track Athlete of the Year, while head coach Chris Popovici was named Women's Coach of the Year
McAneny finished an All-American fifth in the 3,000 (8:17.12), at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, breaking a nine-year old program record in the process. He also finished first in the event at the SUNYAC Championships (Feb. 23).
Popovici was voted the women's top indoor coach for the third-consecutive season. Now a nine-time SUNYAC Coach of the Year (five indoor, four outdoor), the fifth-year head coach was recognized after guiding Geneseo to its third-consecutive sweep of the men's and women's SUNYAC Indoor Championships, marking the first time one program has achieved the feat in the 39-year history of the event.
Popovici was also recently voted the Atlantic Region Women's Coach of the Year for the second-straight season as well as the region's top men's coach for the first time. He finished the winter leading seven All-America performances at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
