Alex Curran ’12 enters his fourth year as the Knights’ pole vault coach in 2017-18. 

Under his watch, three program records have been broken. Laura Piazza '19 established the indoor women's mark (3.35m/10'11.75") and also ranks second on the Knights' outdoor list (3.35m/10'11.75") behind Sarah Bronk '20 (3.61m/11'10"), who is also second on the indoor list (3.25m/10'8"). On the men's side Terry Taylor III '17 established Geneseo's outdoor record (4.56m/14'11.5") and also ranks second on the Knights' indoor list (4.57 (15'00").

As an athlete, Curran was a two time All-American at Alfred State, including an NJCAA National Championship in 2008. 

After transferring to Geneseo, Curran posted the Knights’ third highest indoor vault (4.40m/14'5") of all time while also posting the fifth-highest outdoors (4.20m/13'9.25").

Curran graduated from Alfred State with an associate’s degree in marketing in 2009 before earning a bachelor’s degree in history from Geneseo in 2012.

He is currently working toward obtaining his LMT and CSCS.
