Cross Country Teams, Individuals, Land USTFCCCA Academic Honors

GENESEO, N.Y. – Eight members of the SUNY Geneseo cross country program were named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honorees, while both the men's and the women's teams were recognized as All-Academic squads, announced Thursday. 

The Geneseo men's honorees were seniors Luke Holtzman and Sean Welch, juniors Sean McAneny and Jack Tate and first-year Riley Grossman. The women were represented by seniors Allison Fernandez and Elise Ramirez as well as sophomore Olivia Baumann

A total of 682 student-athletes (382 women, 300 men) from across the country were honored for having at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average while finishing in the top-25 percent at their respective NCAA Regional Championships. 

A total of 215 women's teams and 178 men's teams earned All-Academic recognition for compiling at least a 3.10 cumulative grade point average and a team score at an NCAA Regional meet. 

The Geneseo men logged their seventh top-10 finish at the NCAA Division III Championships since 2008 with a 10th-place result. The Knights also won their fifth-straight SUNYAC title, which was the ninth in 10 years before finishing runner-up at the Atlantic Region Championships to clinch their 16th-straight NCAA Championship appearance. 

McAneny was tabbed the SUNYAC Runner of the Year after finishing an All-American 25th at the NCAA Championships, joining Holtzman, Welch and Tate on the team that competed at nationals. McAneny, Welch and Tate all earned All-SUNYAC honors along with Grossman, who also was tabbed the SUNYAC Rookie of the Year. 

The Knights women finished fifth at the NCAA Division III Championships for their fifth top-five showing in the last six seasons. Geneseo also ran to its fourth-consecutive Atlantic Region title after winning its eighth-straight SUNYAC crown. 

Ramirez repeated as SUNYAC Runner of the Year after an All-American 25th-place finish at nationals to follow up individual titles at Atlantic Regionals and SUNYACs. Fernandez and Baumann also earned All-Region and All-SUNYAC accolades before also competing at nationals.
