GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior pitcher Ashlyn Kersch and senior outfielder Danni Napoli were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) All-Region Teams, announced last week. Kersch was named First Team All-Region and Napoli was tabbed second team as they led the Knights to a program record 37 wins and the program's first NCAA Super Regional appearance.
An All-SUNYAC First Team selection, Kersch finished the season with an 18-4 record from the circle and batted .381 with four home runs. She was named NCAA Regional Most Valuable Player after propelling the Knights through the Crestview Hills, Ky. Regional with four pitching victories and two home runs. She scored 36 runs and drove in 33 RBI while recording 51 hits including 11 doubles. She led the team with a 1.88 ERA, allowing just 38 earned runs over 141.2 innings pitched.
Named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Player of the Year, Napoli earned her third All-Region selection as she was named to the second team. Napoli batted .370 with a program-record 17 doubles and seven home runs. Napoli scored 40 runs and drove in 39 RBI as she racked up 57 hits on the season. She also became the program leader in career home runs (23) and finished second all-time in total bases (301).
