Women's Basketball Defeats Morrisville, 79-49

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior guard Bridgit Ryan totaled 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the Knights to a 79-49 victory at Morrisville, Tuesday.

Ryan literally couldn't miss, finishing a perfect 6-for-6 from the field while also going 3-for-3 from the free-throw line as the Knights (3-0) combined to shoot 45.5 percent (25-55) for the game.

Senior guard Katie Durand chipped in 12 points and six rebounds as Geneseo built a 22-13 first-quarter lead that it never relinquished. 

A jumper by senior guard Kayleigh Cavanaugh extended the visitors' lead, 30-15, with 8:02 remaining in the second quarter as the Knights maintained an 11-point edge, 40-29, at halftime.

Geneseo limited the Mustangs (2-2) to 20 points and 28-percent shooting in the second half, to move on to its third-consecutive victory to start the season. 

The Knights return to action on Sunday with a trip to Misericordia (Pa.) for a 2:30 p.m. tip-off.
