Women's Soccer Shuts Out Brockport, 2-0

GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior midfielder Emily Green and first-year midfielder Domenica Piccoli scored second-half goals to lead the Knights to the 2-0 victory over visiting Brockport, Saturday, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's soccer action.

Green put Geneseo (5-2-4, 3-1-1 SUNYAC) on the board in the 58th minute. Senior back Alexa Wandy dropped a corner kick from the right side into the penalty area where Golden Eagle junior keeper Catherine Eliasson came off her line to punch the ball to the ground. However, the ball landed at the top of the 18-yard box where Green struck a shot into the left side of the net to break the scoreless tie.

The Knights, who out-shot Brockport (5-4-1, 2-3 SUNYAC) by a 25-4 margin, tacked on an insurance goal in the 73rd minute. Senior forward Erin O'Connor sent a long ball from midfield down the left wing to a charging Piccoli. Eliasson ran out in an attempt to corral the lose ball, but Piccoli got there first and scored on a 12-yard shot at the near post that found the back of the net.

Geneseo will next be in action on Friday (Oct. 14) with a SUNYAC matchup at Cortland set to start at 3:00 p.m.

SCHEDULE NOTE: Geneseo's home match scheduled for Tuesday (Oct. 11) was cancelled by St. John Fisher.
