POTSDAM, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore forward Domenica Piccoli netted a goal and dished off an assist to lead the 12th-ranked Knights to a 2-0 victory over State University of New York Athletic Conference foe Potsdam on Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Piccoli netted her sixth goal on the season off of an assist by first-year forward Ellie Gregory in the 33rd minute to put the Knights ahead, 1-0.
In the second half, Piccoli fed Gregory on the left flank, who converted her fourth goal of the season to give Geneseo a 2-0 lead in the 73rd minute.
Junior goalkeeper Emily Janiszewski tallied three saves to record her seventh shutout of the season.
Janiszewski's clean sheet marked the 25th of her career, moving her into sole possession of second in Geneseo program history for most shutouts.
Geneseo has scored 40 goals on the season, the most in the SUNYAC, while Postdam ranks second (37).
The Knights clinch a first-round bye in the SUNYAC Tournament, earning one of the tournament's top two seeds and will host a semifinal round contest on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
The Knights will take on Plattsburgh in the final conference game of the season at 1:00 p.m. A win would clinch the top seed and home-field advantage throughout the SUNYAC playoffs.
