GENESEO, N.Y. - The Geneseo women's soccer team was one of 167 college soccer programs to receive recognition from United Soccer Coaches, earning the Team Ethics and Sportsmanship award, announced Wednesday.
The Knights received a gold level award for exhibiting fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game. Geneseo received just one yellow cards across 19 games this season.
Geneseo women's soccer has a history of good behavior on the field, especially during head coach Nate Wiley's tenure. Ranging 67 matches from the 2011 season to the 2015 season, the Knights went without receiving a yellow card, earning three Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Gold Awards during that span.
The Knights finished the 2018 campaign with 14 victories, earning a second-consecutive State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) championship and NCAA Tournament berth, making their first back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances since 1992-94.
