GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior goalkeeper Emily Janiszewski was named the NCAA Division III Goalkeeper of the Year by D3soccer.com, announced Thursday, adding to her long list of accolades.
A United Soccer Coaches All-American and 2018 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Defensive Player of the Year, Janiszewski was named Goalkeeper of the Year after she finished as the NCAA Division III Statistical Champion and tied a Geneseo single-season record with 13 shutouts. She ranked among the top goalkeepers in the country with a 0.24 goals against average and a .929 save percentage in 17 appearances this season.
Arguably the best goalkeeper in Geneseo program history, Janiszewski recorded a 51-11-8 record in 72 appearances, the most by any Geneseo goalkeeper, and allowed just 32 goals. She finishes her collegiate career with a 0.44 goals against average and a .891 save percentage across four years. She helped guide Geneseo to back-to-back SUNYAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2017 and 2018, and was key to the Knights' run to the Sweet 16 in 2017.
Janiszewski becomes the sixth All-American in Geneseo program history, and just the second Knights goalkeeper to earn the honor (Paula Fisher, 1995).
