Salzano and Pornpitaksuk Highlight Four Knights Selected SUNYAC All-Stars

GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo seniors Anika Pornpitaksuk and Lauren Salzano were named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Year for the second-straight season while head coach Jason Stephens earned SUNYAC Coach of the Year.

Junior Vanessa Lam-Tran and senior Rachel Ollis also earned All-SUNYAC honors as the Knights grabbed their seventh-consecutive SUNYAC title with a 5-3 victory over New Paltz.

Pornpitaksuk and Salzano combined for an 11-5 record at first singles, including an 8-0 mark against conference opponents, on their way to their second-straight Doubles Team of the Year award and First Team All-SUNYAC selections. Both student-athletes were also chosen as First Team All-SUNYAC at singles, with Salzano earning a 4-0 mark against conference foes at the second flight and Pornpitaksuk posting an 8-0 mark against SUNYAC opponents. She was also named SUNYAC Tournament MVP after posting a 5-0 combined mark in tournament play. 

Lam-Tran was named First Team All-SUNYAC for singles, while she and Ollis earned a second team selection at doubles. The pair posted an 8-0 mark against conference opponents and went 14-3 overall, playing the majority of matches at second doubles. Lam-Tran earned a 9-9 record at first singles, including a 6-2 mark against conference opponents. She notched the final point in Geneseo's 5-3 victory over New Paltz in the SUNYAC Championship as well.

Head coach Jason Stephens earns his first SUNYAC Coach of the Year award after leading the Knights to three conference championships in three years at the helm. Under Stephens' charge the Knights stretched their winning streak against conference opponents to 40 matches before falling to Oneonta earlier this season. In three years, Stephens owns a career coaching mark of 36-16, including a 25-1 tally against SUNYAC foes.
